Future Olympian

So like most people, I have been addicted to the Olympics.  Especially swimming and gymnastics.  Don't you think it's crazy that Chinese girls are taken away from their families as early as age 3!  All I have to say, is that I'm so grateful we do not live in China.  I think they would definitely take Miss Mia away from us!

Mia's 1st trip to Disney

Like I said in my previous post, I am awful at emailing pictures to family and friends. So to get everyone completely caught up on the Florida Beightol's summer, I thought I would post a slideshow of Mia's 1st trip to Disney. We spent 2 wonderful nights and 2 HOT days in sunny Orlando with my parents, Uncle Carl, and "Aya." Brandon and Uncle Chad weren't able to go to the Magic Kingdom with us on the first day but joined us the next day at Animal Kingdom.

Washington Trip

As most of you know, we recently went to Washington for a short family vacation.  While we were there, we also celebrated Brandon's birthday and had the first annual Beightol family camp out.  Since I am AWFUL at emailing pictures to family and friends, I figured a few slideshows would be the best way to share our vacation with everyone.

YAY!!!!

So I have decided to get rid of my myspace page.  Well, technically I still have it but in the near future I plan on deleting it.  And I was getting really excited b/c I realized that I can do the exact same stuff on this page! (add a slideshow, add a playlist, etc. etc) I know, I know...you bloggers are probably like "No sh*t, Sherlock!" but as you all know, I'm a little slow.  However, I was getting a little frustrated this morning b/c I couldn't figure out to post my new "gadgets?"  (See previous post).

But thanks to Amy, I was able to add my playlist!  Hip hip hooray!!  So, enjoy the music and keep checking back to see what's new!

When did Mia become so grown up? Part 2

Mia used to love the movie, "The Shaggy Dog." One day she was watching it and a few scenes scared her and she didn't watch it for about 3-4 months.  So this past Tuesday when we were flying home from Washington, out of nowhere she starts singing, "Who let the dogs out, ruff ruff" "Who let the dogs out, ruff ruff!"  Brandon and I were like "How do you know that song?" and she said "Shaggy Dog!"  This got me thinking....

On Wednesday night, after Brandon got home from work, I told Mia we were going to watch "The Shaggy Dog."  Of course, she freaked out a little bit, but I told her she was a big girl now and that the movie wasn't going to scare her.  She bought it of course and as a family we began to watch.  About 10 minutes into the movie, there's a scene with a boy who drives a car.  All of a sudden Mia says "That big boy is handsome!"  I looked at Brandon before I reacted to this, but apparently he didn't hear her.  So I asked Mia to repeat what she just said, and she then said "That big boy is handsome, and he knows how to drive!"  Brandon looked at me and said "She likes older boys that drive!?!"  And then he looked at Mia and said "You're grounded!"

When did Mia become so grown up?

This morning started out like any other morning....cereal for Mia, coffee and peanut butter toast for me, potty breaks, brush our teeth (with big girl toothpaste), etc. etc.  Like usual, Mia went off into her playroom and began to make a mess (oops, I mean "play").  Then all of a sudden I hear "MOM!" It may not seem like a big deal to most people but for my not-even-3 year old, it was a little shocking.  I mean, what happened to "Mommy?" or "Mama?"  When did she become so grown up?  When she said it I was reminded me of when I was a teenager in my room calling my mom for something silly like, a glass of water.  That drawn out tone that we all used to call our moms.  It works with "dad" too, but doesn't have the same ring to it.  Even as I'm sitting hear writing, ignoring her call, she continues to say "MOMMMM!!! MOMMMMM, come here!!!" Hold on while I see what the problem is....

Ok, so I just walked 2 feet into my daughter's playroom where she is sitting in her rocking chair, looking around and still yelling "MOMMMM!!!, MOMMMMM!!"  So I asked her "Yes Mia, what do you want?" and she says "Can I watch a movie in the living room?"  THAT'S IT?!? That's what she had to ask me?  On top of that, I was just in the living room!  It would have made a lot more sense for her to come out of her playroom, and ask me if she could watch a movie.   Oh, the joy of motherhood.  

What's a blog anyway??

Ok, so for the longest time I've been hearing about people "blogging."  But no one has really given me an exact answer on what blogging is.  I mean, I see it on the side of my myspace page.  I hear people say "So have you read my blog today?"  And I hear people calling other people "bloggers." According to my friend Christian, blogging is short for something (which I already forgot what he said), but basically it's a place on the web to "log" things.  You know, like a "captain's log?" That's a quote from my friend again.  He's so smart.  Whenever I have a problem/question, he seems to know all the answers (or at least he leads me to believe that he knows all the answers.)  

So, back to "blogging" or "posting" or in my world I'm just going to call it "writing." My sister- in-law, Amy, just recently started her own blog, and it kind of inspired me to start one.  Well actually, I really didn't have a desire to start one at all!  But it's kind of like when your friend goes out and buys a new pair of shoes.  At the time, you don't think you need a new pair of shoes, but as soon as you see your friend with a new pair of shoes, something in your brain tells you "YOU NEED NEW SHOES!"  And before you know it, you're at the mall buying a new pair of heels, slip ons, or at least a new pair of flip flops!  

So I guess I have to thank my wonderful sister-in-law for triggering something in my brain to tell me to "START A BLOG!!"  Why couldn't she just have bought a new pair of shoes?!?!
